03 · How it was checked

The book has a certificate, too.

A certificate of analysis is a number a stranger can reproduce without trusting the person who published it. A file can have the same thing. These are the ones this one has.

Audit rounds

Fourteen of them found a real defect in a build the previous round had called clean. The last one found seventeen.

The contents page is checked against the pages

It is rendered to a fixed point, then compared with the headings on the pages it names. A table of contents that drifts from the book is the oldest defect in publishing, and it is silent.

Substitutions declare how often they must match

Each edition is built by substitution from one source, and every substitution states the number of times it has to match. A mismatch aborts. This caught an unterminated marker that had silently swallowed the block after it.

The build is byte-reproducible

Rebuilding from the same sources produces the same file, so the checksum below is a property of the sources rather than of the afternoon it was compiled.

Check the bytes you were sent.

Run the file you downloaded through SHA-256 and compare. If the digest does not match the one printed here, whatever you have is not what we published, and we would like to know about it.

04 · Limits

What it will not tell you.

It prints no routine

Chapter eighteen is titled Why This Guide Prints No Routines, and it means it. No schedule, no personal instruction, no number to copy. What the book sets out instead is the arithmetic of a labelled bottle and what the published trials actually used, so the reader can see the scale rather than be handed one.

It is not advice

Educational only, and not medical or legal advice. It has not been through independent review by a clinician or by a regulatory lawyer, and it says so on the page rather than in the small print. Where the evidence is thin the book says the evidence is thin, including where that is inconvenient.

It grades its own legal rows

Of the hundred and seven legal rows in the tracker, sixty-four are marked low confidence, most of them because they rest on secondary sources rather than on a statute, a regulation, a gazette or an agency page. The mark is on the row itself, where a reader can see it before quoting it.

Before you click.

Is the guide really free, and is there an email form?

It is free and there is no form. The two buttons on this page point straight at the files; nothing is collected, and no address is asked for in exchange.

What is the difference between the full and the pocket edition?

Length and audience. The full edition runs to seventy-eight pages across twenty-two chapters and four appendices, and carries the state and country tables and the trial inventory. The pocket edition is twenty pages across ten chapters, without those tables, written for someone holding a bottle rather than researching the category.

Both are built from their own sources and both pass the same strict gate.

Does the guide tell me how much to take?

No, by design, and a whole chapter explains the decision. No effective amount has been established in humans for any outcome, no titration schedule has been validated, and no upper limit exists. What the book gives instead is arithmetic on a labelled bottle and the amounts the published trials actually used, which is a scale rather than an instruction.

How current is the legal section?

Its regulatory content was verified against primary sources on 21 August 2026, and the pages were revised on 24 August 2026. Both dates are printed inside the book. This is the part of the subject with the shortest shelf life: the federal definition of hemp changes in November 2026, several states moved during 2026, and the book marks which of its rows it is least sure about.

Can I print it, quote it, or send it to a colleague?

Yes to all three, and the checksums on this page exist so a recipient can confirm the copy they were handed is the one we published. If you quote it, quote the date with it, because a legal figure without the date it was read is not a figure.
